Commercial Marine Group embarked on a journey with McConnell Dowell in December 2023 where we provided BESPOKE MARINE SOLUTIONS at Port Kembla Gas Terminal.
Commercial Marine Group provided expertise to develop construction engineering and temporary works to ensure an economical, yet suitably robust and reliable, solution to the long-term objectives of the project.
The scope of this project entailed working on the PKGT quay wall repairs, where the divers welded repair sheets underwater between king piles and pumping concrete into the void behind the repair sheets to provide more structural support to the wharf. The teams would undertake a variety of works including inspections, dredging/blasting, underwater welding and concrete pumping. A total of 545 repair plates were installed and welded.
At the end of the campaign in November 2024, the remaining teams installed scour mattresses on the northern and southern revetment.
Commercial Marine Group provided several vessels (Phoenix, Invictus, Bandit, Bluey), 3 x 5-man dive teams and a Project Engineer for the duration of the project. McConnell Dowell provided a supply barge.
